William Henry Thon, 65, retired former insurance solicitor for the John Hancock Mutual Insurance Company, died in St. Elizabeth's hospital at 10:15 this morning after an extended illness. Thon was formerly a telegrapher for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, lived for a time in Colorado, and lately operated a poultry farm at his home, 1420 Kinsella avenue, Swansea. He was born in Belleville September 29, 1880, a son of Philip and Margaret Sorg Thon, who were both natives of Germany and preceded him in death. Surviving him are his wife the former Ida Leigundgut, to whom he was married in Colorado March 26, 1907, and the following children, Lillian, wife of William J. Coburn, Sedona, Ariz; Raymond, Chicago; Irene, wife of L. Mischke, Prespect Park; William L., at home and Pfc. Elmer E. Thon in France. He also leaves one grandchild; a brother, Christ, Robertson, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Halbert, 224 South High street; and Sophie Place, 322 South Second street. The body is at the Gundlach and Company funeral home, where funeral arrangements are pending.
