OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - May 3, 2004

George Washington Jolly, 89, 1580 Florence St., died at 10 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Wabash Skilled CareCenter.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1915, in Badger Grove, to Horace Richard and Lola (Deardorf) Jolly. He married Marjorie Jenkins on Dec. 20, 1945, in Madison.

He was a member of the Wabash Christian Church and Wabash American Legion Post No.15. He retired from the Honeywell Center, after 10 years, and also owned Jolly's Kitchen Center in the 1960s. He was a World War II Army veteran in Patton's 3rd Army, was a member of the 602nd tank destroyer division as a forward observer, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Jolly, Wabash; three sons, Darrell L. Jolly, Keith A. Jolly and George Kevin (Helen N. Mitchell) Jolly, all of Wabash; a former daughter-in-law, Velda Kughem Jolly Reese, Ohio, and several half brothers and half sisters. Three brothers are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel. The Rev. Cecil Cook and Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Christian Church.
