The Stearns family went west by covered wagon when Otis was 7, from Watertown ,Middlesex county,a part of Boston, MA. to PA.and on to MI. Brown hair, blue eyes. he married Sarah Jane Camburn, march 1,1855, in Lenawee co MI. children were Myrtle, Charles Marshal, and Albert Bay. they homesteaded 122 acres in Boon, MI, moved to Deerlodge,TN, then Fairhope,Al and Hoquiam,WA.they are buried in the old city of Hoquiam hillside cemetery, maintained only by family. they raised 6 of Charles' children, Matie, Ada, Etta, Ethel,and Winnie, [mother Lillian,] and Carlton and Ione,[mother Edith], after both mothers died. there has been a long history of ADHD that has come down thru this family, either from the Stearns or the Camburn side. it went from Charles to both sets of his children and on down the line. Otis' father was Leonard Stearns, we have a tintype photo of Polly Munroe, written on the back is her name as"mother of Otis".in the early 1600s there were a large number of Monroes and Stearns intermarried in Watertown, Middlesex co MA. there is a Polly Monroe listed there. Otis' death cert has Mary Fag as mother,that was a mistake by the person making out the document. Otis carried a buckeye in his pocket for good luck. Leroy Stearns is buried in the family plot also, he is from the Stearns family who lived in Skagit co and Lewis co WA. 1900 census Morgan co TN. Stearns, Otis W head w-m April 1831 age 69 m 45, Sarah wife w-f Mch 1834 age 66 m 45, Ada gdaughter w-f Mch 1884 15 s, Winnifred gdaughter w-f July 1886 13 s. he was 83 years old when he died in Hoquiam, WA.
