'Lizzie' Elizabeth ALTHOUSE was born 6 January 1870 in Waupun, Wisconsin, youngest child of Moses P ALTHOUSE and his wife Rosanne E WOOD.

Lizzie and Alva HERT lived in the Village of Smiths Mill on the Blue Earth - Waseca County line. Lizzie developed Scurvy because of a lack of proper diet which eventually proved fatal to her at the young age of 16 years old.
Lizzie ALTHOUSE HERT died on 22 July 1886 just 3 days short of their 1st Wedding Anniversary. Her death is recorded in Blue Earth County Death Records. The funeral was held in Janesville with burial in the Cemetery at Freeborn.
The somber funeral procession was disrupted for a short time when one of the buggies bolted out of the line in a runaway. The occupants were thrown from their seats and slightly injured. Their team of horses had been spooked when one of the ladies in another buggy opened up her parasol.
Alva HERT married a 2nd time after Lizzie's death to Jeanette Triphana HANNA in 1890. Alva is buried in Oakwood Cemetery at Belle Plaine, Scott County, Minnesota with his 2nd Wife and several of their Children.
