Wayne Garner, 56, of New Lebanon, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at his home.

Born Feb. 12, 1949, in Dayton, he was the son of Jeremy J. and Opal (Walters) Garner. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Garner retired from Iron Workers Local 290, and was an active member of the Southwestern Ohio Cutting Horse Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three sons, Justin Wayne Garner (Justin's mother is Robin Conley) of Franklin, John Garner and Jesse Garner, both of Lewisburg; two daughters, Carlee Garner of West Alexandria and Riley Garner of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, MaKayla; a grandson, Luke; and a sister, Joan Garner Brown of Beavercreek.

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 23, at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, Middletown, with the Rev. Lonnie Gabbard officiating. Burial, with military services conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard, was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Madison Township, Butler County.

Friends and family are invited to an open house in memory of the deceased on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at his home, 11421 Mile Road, New Lebanon.
