F. DUANE COLLINGE Captain in the army air corps, was presumed dead by the War Department one year after he was reported missing while flying vital supplies over the "hump" in northern Burma. The transport plane of which he was co-pilot crashed Sept 29, l943 between Assam, India and China.

The missing man was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, 24 years ago, came to Wabash with his parents in 1937 and was graduated from Wabash High school the next year. He attended Indiana university for one year, and then went to Purdue for his second year studying mechanical enginering. He enlisted in the army on Thanksgiving day, 1940, received his commission as a lieutenant July 11, 1941, and served as an instructor in southern training camps for several months, before being sent overseas.
Besides the parents and the widow, Capt. Collinge is survived by one daughter, Patricia Louise, whom he never saw and whose first birthday will be next month, one brother, Ens. John Collinge, who saw combat action in the recent invasion of southern France, and one sister Miss Beverly Collinge, a student at Northwestern university.
