Donald Floyd Meighen, 79 of Cambridge, died Friday (Sept. 17, 2004) at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Cambridge, son of the late Hobart McKinley Meighen and Gladys Pauline (Tompkins) Meighen. Mr. Meighen was an electrician for I.B.E.W. and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a 58 year member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church, a life member of Elks Lodge 448, VFW Post 2901 and DAV. He was a 50 year member of I.B.E.W. of Newark. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Holub; and a brother, Bernard Meighen. He leaves his wife, Jeanette Ann (Long) Meighen of Cambridge, whom he married Aug. 4, 1945; three daughters, Kathy9 Andrew) Bemer of Rocky River, Durinda (Daniel) Fisher of McKinney, Texas, and Janet (Michael) Kirwin of Westerville; a sister, Norma Jean Brandt of Bradford, Pa.; a brother, Arthur Meighen of Byesville; seven grandchildren, Jason Fisher, Jeremy (Somer) Fisher, Jill (Kyle) Scheatzle, Michael Bemer, Katie Bemer, Brittany Kirwin and Melissa Kirwin; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Fisher; several nieces and nephews; and family and friends. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Sunday) and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street United Methodist Church, Cambridge, with the Rev. Scott Low officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens.. Military graveside services will be conducted the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
