Paul ''Coach'' Shebby, 87, of Danville, Ill., died Friday at the Danville Hospital.
Born April 28, 1913, in Duryea, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Franko Shebby. He graduated from Duryea High School and received his bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a coach and athletic director at Schlarman High School from 1948 to 1967. He then served as coach and athletic director at Danville High School until 1980. He received many coaching awards and is honored in several halls of fame. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Danville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anielle Catherine Evaskitas, whom he married in 1944 in Duryea; brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his sister, Helen Roszkowski, Aston, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., with wake services at 7:45 p.m. at Pape Memorial Home and Gardens, Danville, Ill.
