Services for Ulaine Palmer Owens, 81, of Grady County, Georgia, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Cairo First Freewill Baptist Church. Dr. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. Mrs. Owens passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham, Georgia.
Active pallbearers will be James Jenkins, Norman Kincaid, Richard Dupree, and Steve Reagan.
Mrs. Owens was born in Grady County, GA, August 7, 1928, to the late John Gurley Palmer and Annie Elizabeth Ausburn Palmer. She was married to Arthur Dewey Owens, Sr., who preceded her in death 2001. She was a member of First Freewill Church and a retired bus driver and instructor for the Thomas-Grady County Training Center.
Survivors include: daughter, Dorothy Kay Owens of Cairo, GA; son, Pete Owens of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Artie and Donna Owens of Cairo, GA, Zane and Sabrina Owens of St. Marys, GA, Kale Owens of Panama City, FL; great-grandchildren, Samantha Owens of Cairo, GA, Dylan Owens of Cairo, GA, Gavin Owens of Cairo, GA, Gracie Owens of Cairo, GA, Elisa Owens of St. Marys, GA, Elizabeth Sheffield of Cairo, GA; cousin, Glenda Coffey of Cairo, GA; nieces, Ann McLeod of Thomasville, GA, Vicki Jenkins of Cairo, GA and Sandy Reagan of Cairo, GA.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur Dewey Owens, Sr.; her parents, John Gurley and Annie Elizabeth Palmer; and her sister, Dot Walden.
