Christian Huchel was born in Germany June 23, 1849. Died December 10, 1931. He was 82 years 5 months and 17 days. When 21 years of age, Christian, with his brother Frederick, left the land of his birth and came to America. He settled in Edwards County. Here he met and married in 1874 to Miss Evelyn Elizabeth Kaericher. Since that time they have lived near West Salem and Parkersburg. 11 children were born to this union, four of whom preceded him in death. These were: Dello, Delbert, Walter and Katty.


Seven children remain to mourn his loss. These are: Daisy Jenner of near Parkersburg, Bessie Bratch of West Salem, Flossie Mullinax of Parkersburg, Luella Jones of Newton, Fred Huchel of Parkersburg, Harry Huchel of West Salem, and Charles of Parkersburg, with whom Mr. Huchel lived at the time of his death.


Mr. Huchel has two brothers and one sister, all of whom have preceded him in death, as have his father and mother, which he left behind in Germany. Mr. Huchel suffered a stroke of paralysis about 12 years ago and after that time he was rather enfeebled and during the past two years he has been practically an invalid.

On last Friday he became much worse and passed away at 2 p.m. on this Thursday.
