He built the first brick house in the town of Monroe, the house where David Lang lived in 1955. Three generations of Moores lived in that house.

He came to that part of Lyman, that is now Monroe, before 1800 and located in the center of the town, on the road now called Back Road; and reared a family of six children, plus one who died in infancy.
