Pliner, age 88, of Reedsburg, died on Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2004, in the Edward Snyder Nursing Home. She was born on June 20, 1915, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Wencil and Anna (Hotek) Kouba. On May 11, 1938, she was married to Marvin J. Pliner. Lucy worked in the Hillsboro area for many years. Following her retirement, she moved to Reedsburg. She then worked as a nursing assistant for Home Health United. In 1996, she was awarded the Home Health United Employee of The Year. She was proud to have made quilts for everyone in her family. Lucy will be greatly missed and remembered as a generous, hard working and loving Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Larry) Dyar of Reedsburg; four grandchildren, Lori (Ralph) Thompson of Reedsburg, Debbie (David) Tapp of Reedsburg, Tom (Leslie) Dyar of Reedsburg, and Jim (Jessica) Dyar of Madison; nine great-grandchildren; a nephew, Robert Kouba of Hillsboro; a niece, Martha Bailey of Texas; and cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on March 14, 1981; an infant son, Robert; and seven brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, rural Hillsboro. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. on Wednesday at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg.
