William Sherman Wilson, pioneer resident of Orton Township, passed away March 26, 1949 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Siemsen, in Duluth at the age of 83 years.
Deceased was born at Viroqua, Wisconsin on March 2, 1866. He was united in marriage to Emma Wayman on February 13, 1889 at Mankato, Kansas. They resided in Nebraska and Iowa for some years and came to Orton Township with their children in the spring of 1917. They moved to Sebeka in 1937 where they resided until the death of Mrs. Wilson on April 6, 1947. In May he moved to Nimrod and stayed with his daughter, Mrs. Gertie Daniels, and remained there until August when he went to Duluth and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Siemsen.
He leaves to mourn his departure four daughters Gracie Siemsen, Gertie Daniels, Bertha Christiansen, Mabel Torgerson; three sons Albert, Eugene and Alfred; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four sisters Mrs. Haghlin, Mrs. Belle Finlayson, Mrs. Cora Durant, Mrs. Vanwinkle, Eugene Wilson, Peter Wilson, and Elmer Wilson.
Officiating at the last rites was Rev R.F. Mattock of Herman, former pastor of the Methodist church in Sebeka, on March 30. Mrs. Mattock and Mrs. Winjum sang at the services with Mrs. Howard Miller accompanist. Interment was made in the village cemetery and the pallbearers were the following six grandsons: Vernon Siemsen, Vernard McNurlin, Calvin Torgerson, Gaylord Daniels, Jerald Wilson, and Duaine Wilson.
