PFC Jackman was a member of G Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division when it fought its last ground engagement of the Korean War. Boulder City was fought about 30 miles north of Seoul, near the Imjim River, on July 24-25, 1953.

Private First Class Jackman was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

He almost came home.
