Beatrice Ann Belenchia Gionti, known affectionately as Nona, 82, passed away Dec 13, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis after a long illness. She was born on Sept 9, 1927 in Memphis TN and in her childhood years, she lived at St. Peter's Orphanage in Memphis. Mrs. Gionti graduated from Sacred Heart High School and from St. Joseph Nursing School was a retired registered nurse. Mrs. Gionti enjoyed cooking for family and friends; crocheting, crafts and collecting dolls. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs Gionti is survived by her five children; daughters, Paula Donati of Bartlett and Valencia Davis of Olive Branch; sons, Tony of Bartlett, Joey and Gene of South Florida; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grand children; brother, Paul Drake of Memphis. Mrs. Gionti was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Belenchia and Frank Belenchia. Visitation will be at 4:30 7 p.m, Wednesday December 16, at St. Anne Catholic Church, located at 706 South Highland with rosary to follow. The funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday December 17 at the church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital Memphis, The American Heart Association , The American Lung Association and The American Diabetes Association.
