William Jackson Pate was born May 28, 1849 the second child of Joseph Samuel Pate, Sr. and his second wife Mary Jane Carraway Pate in Early County, Georgia. He migrated west with his parents and siblings and married Emily Odum Phillips Pate on February 17, 1870 in Tyler County, Texas. His second wife was Addie Pate. He died at age 76 June 14, 1926 in Tyler County and is buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Tyler County. He was a Mason.
