Jean Elizabeth Dobson Greene joyously went home to be with her Lord on December 14th, 2009. Born in Greer, South Carolina on November 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Mosely Dobson and the late Eckford Sidney Dobson. She attended Asheville Teachers College and was a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College. She was the widow of the late Judge Felix B. Greene, Jr., the first Family Court Judge for Beaufort County. She was known as a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess. She had an abiding love for children and taught school for twenty years at the Laurel Bay School Number 1 at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort, but attended Carteret Street United Methodist Church in recent years with her sisters. She was a member of the Ribault Road Garden Club, where she held every office including President. She was also a member of the Joyce Scott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Wednesday morning Coffee Club for over 50 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Martha Greene of Columbia, several nieces and one nephew, as well as a host of loyal and loving friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, George Felix Greene, her sisters Mary Moseley Dobson and Martha Alice Dobson with whom she lived the later years of their lives, and her brothers, William P. Dobson and E. Sidney Dobson. A celebration of her life will be held on December 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery, Greer, South Carolina. Miss Greene will receive visitors at the home in Beaufort on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at her home in Columbia on December 17th , 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to Carteret Street United Methodist Church, 488 Carteret Street, Beaufort, South Carolina 29902, to Epworth Children's Home, Post Office Box 50466, Columbia, South Carolina 29250, or a charity of your choice.
