In 1878 Lucius M. Gibbs was united in marriage to Julia Hanscom, who was born in the state of Maine and who came to Michigan with her parents when a small girl and grew to womanhood in Nelson township, Kent county, in the possession of estimable qualities of mind and heart, and to this union two children, a son and a daughter, Grace and Jay H., were born, both of whom, with their widowed mother, survive.
