George A. Booker, 61, of Monroeville, formerly of Avonmore, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, in Kane Regional Nursing Center, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 2, 1948, in Avonmore, he was a son of the late Oscar Sr. and Ruth (Hanks) Booker. George lived in Avonmore most of his life, and was Baptist by faith.
He was employed by National Roll, in Avonmore, as a laborer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Staff Sgt. Stevon A. Booker, on April 5, 2003; two brothers, Dennis and Oscar Booker Jr.; and two sisters, the Rev. Linda Hargraves and Sandra McDonald.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly L. Booker and her fiance, Jeffrey Talley-Armstead, of Monroeville; grandson, Alexander M. Booker, of Monroeville; brother, David (Alicia) Booker, of New Kensington; sister, Osalie (Ernest) Patterson, of New Kensington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, Apollo, where services will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Graig Giles officiating.
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore.
