MARSHALL -- Ernest L. Roop, 66, of 200 E. Spruce St., was found dead Sunday in his apartment. He had been in failing health several years, and no autopsy was ordered.
He was born in Prestonsburg, Ky., and moved to Marshall about 40 years ago. He formerly was employed by the Woodland Metal Products Co. for 15 years until the firm closed, and then was a self-employed truck driver for several years.
He attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Larry (Emajean) Randall of Prestonsburg, Mary Roop of Battle Creek, and Mrs. Fred (Mildred) Tucker of Marshall; sons, Ernest J. Roop of Battle Creek, and Glen V. of Olivet; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six sisters and six brothers in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Michigan Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home.
