Wilkerson "Dinkey" William Amis was born on June 12, 1829, in Flat Lick, Kentucky. He married Mary Jane Hopper on March 23, 1857, in Knox, Kentucky. They had 12 children in 22 years. He died on October 22, 1899, in his hometown at the age of 70, and was buried in Knox, Kentucky. According to his family he was given the title of REVEREND in his latter years.
