Funeral services for Hugh Young, 87, of Superior were Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Megrue-Price Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Albert Kleinsasser officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery (sic).

Young died Sunday at Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior. He was born on a farm near Superior and was a lifelong Superior resident.

Surviving are his son, Dale of Superior; daughters, Mrs. Roy (Evelyn) Honeycutt of Nelson, Mrs. Howard (Cecil) Thompson of Superior and Mrs. Phyllis Peterson of Sacramento, California; brother, Ray of Superior, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Hugh G. Young, one of six children of Burley and Mary Jane Edwards Young, was born on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas, near Superior on July 16, 1888.

Hugh was educated in Jewell County. He was married to Wilma Grace Hendry at Belleville, Kansas, on November 4, 1912. To this union six children were born. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Superior for many years. He was a member of the Superior Fire Department. During his life he worked as a rural mail carrier, also worked at the Ideal Cement Company, the Superior Milling Company, the Elliott and Meyers Elevator, the Sergeant Grain Company, the Scoular-Bishop Elevator, the Blue - Cross Serum Company and Al's Feed.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; a step mother, Rose; his wife, Wilma Grace, who died on March 13, 1968; one daughter, Elizabeth Moore, who died in 1973; an infant son, Robert George, who died in 1920, one brother, Moses Young; two sisters, Myrtle Thompson and Gertrude Thompson; and one step-sister, Grace McGee.

Hugh is survived by one son, Dale Young of Superior; three daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Roy Honeycutt) of Nelson, Cecil (Mrs. Howard Thompson) of Superior, and Mrs. Phyllis Peterson of West Sacramento, California; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Ray Young of Superior; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Hugh died in Superior, Nebraska, at the Nuckolls County Hospital, January 25, 1976, after a short illness of one month, at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 9 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, at 2 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Superior, Nebraska. Pastor Albert Kleinsasser officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior.

Casket bearers were Ray Wood, LaVern Jackson, Bill Riley Jr., Bob Lammers, Kirk Young and Robert Peterson.
