Wilma Grace Hendry Young was born to Thornton Hendry and Lucinda Mahaffey on July 20, 1895 at Burr Oak, Kansas and passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital of Superior on March 13, 1968 at the age of 72 years 7 months and 23 days.

Mrs. Young was married to Hugh Gordon Young on November 4, 1912 at Belleville, Kansas. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last November. To this union were born four daughters and two sons: Evelyn Grace Honeycutt of Nelson, Nebraska; Cecil Irene Thompson of Superior, Nebraska; Phyllis Alida Peterson of Sacramento, California; Elizabeth Luella Moore of Woodland, California and Dale Kirk Young of Superior, Nebraska; one son deceased, Robert George Young.

Mrs. Young along with her husband has lived in and around Superior all of her life. She was a member of The First Baptist Church, having become a member in the late 1920's. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #103 and of the V.F.W. Auxiliary # 3355 and of the Rebekah Lodge #70, and has been a gray Lady at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital. Besides doing her housework Mrs. Young has been active in several positions. She owned and operated her own restaurant for many years and worked at the Superior Public Schools as cook besides being the head cook at the Baptist Camp Moses Merrill at Fullerton, Nebraska. She always seemed to enjoy her work.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, sons–in-law and a sister Alida E. Meador. Those who are left behind are left to feel passing are her husband Hugh and their five children, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one brother George Glenn Hendry of Chenoa, Illinois and one sister Dolly Hendry Murray of Butler, Missouri. There are a host of nephews and nieces besides many other relatives and friends.

This thought by Kate Douglas Wiggins is thought to be appropriate here, it is entitled, "Only One Mother"; "Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, but only one mother in the whole world".

NOTE: This was a rough draft of Grace's Obituray (she never went by first name of Wilma). I think a page was missing telling when her service would be held at The First Baptist Church, or being a rough draft, service time wasn't set yet. I do know that the day of Grace's service nearly all of Superior was there. Great Lady's are always so loved!
