John McNamer, pioneer, vet and lodgeman, came to Oregon in 1859 with parents and settled in Washington County; died 25 Jan 1922 age 74 years, closely allied with the development of the County. Brought to Oregon by parents 1859, the father having arrived in 1853. Enlisted in Co. B, Oregon Infantry , duty in the mountains and plains, protection of settlers. Later served with one of the express companies when they carried valuables in stage coaches, his duty to guard treasure boxes, drove off a band of robbers in one attack and one killed. Returned to Washington County after war closed, farmed for a number of years, ran a stage to Tillamook over Wilson River Road; married Mrs. Nora Wells, Tillamook in 1911.

Survived by two sons, Fred, Frank; daughter Mrs. Alice Dollarhide and children by his first wife; of his inmediate family is survived by two brothers, Theodore, Alaska, and Converse W. of Heppner Oregon. Also sisters Mrs. T.M. Munkers, Mrs. Thomas A. Ritchie, Mrs. John Bellinger, Mrs. Alice Parsons, Mrs. J.W. Goodin, Mrs. Blanche Moore. Records of Forest Grove Undertaking Co.: born 20 March 1848, died 25 January 1922, 1/2 mile NW of Forest Grove. Father: Noah McNamer, born KY, Mother: Elizabeth Hurley, born IL.
