MARION COUNTY MAN STABBED TO DEATH. a 32 year old Marion County man has been arrested in the stabbing death of his 40 year old brother. John Steven "Stevie" Mattingly, 40, of Route 1, Lebanon, died Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11:30 A.M. at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He was allegedly stabbed in the chest by his brother, Francis Anthony "Tony" Mattingly, according to the Kentucky State Police. The brothers had been arguing when the stabbing occurred at 10:15 A.M. Saturday on Sportman's Lake Road 5 miles east of Lebanon. Tony Mattingly is lodged in the Marion County Jail. Stevie Mattingly was a Marion County native and an employee of Bates Construction Co. He was preceded in death by his father, John Junior Mattingly. Survivors include his wife, Diane Morris Mattingly; one son, Jesse Mattingly of Lebanon; one daughter, Amy Mattingly of Lebanon; his mother, Rita Cecil of Dant Station, Ky.; five sisters, Mrs. Dale (Laura Rita) Henderson of Holy Cross, Mrs. Jerry (Kathy) Giles of Arkansas, Joyce Rogers of Campbellsville, Mrs. Mike (Helen) Newton of Campbellsville and Alicia Burk of Lebanon; and three brothers, Donnie Mattingly of New Hope, Tom Mattingly of St. Francis and Tony Mattingly of Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at 11 A.M. at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in New Hope with the Rev. Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A prayer service will be held tonight at 7:30 at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto, which is in charge of arrangements.
