Lavon Wheatley Medley, 86, Louisville, died April 22, 2009, at the Nazareth Home.

Born May 3, 1922, in Loretto, Medley was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jospeh I. "Banjo" Medley; parents, Frank and Nora Wheatley; and her son, MSgt. John M. Medley, Load Master, KyANG.

Survivors include: a son, Tony Medley; two daughters, Nancy Kursewicz and Mary Beth McNichols; two sisters, Ida Faye Blocker and Betty Ann Edelen; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass was held April 26 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to DeSales High School or the Nazareth Home.

MEDLEY - Lavon Wheatley, 86, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Nazareth Home. She was a member of Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church where she was active in the Women's Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.I. "Banjo" Medley; and her son, MSgt. John M. Medley, Load Master, KYANG.

She is survived by her children, Tony Medley (Carolyn), Nancy Kursewicz (Dennis) and Mary Beth McNichols (Michael); grandchildren, Jennifer Medley (who provided special love and care in the last year of her grandmother's life), Leslie French, Scott Medley, Sean Grimes, Tracy DeLoyola, Patrick McNichols, John McNichols, Michael Mateja, Brian Mateja; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ida Faye Blocker and Betty Ann Edelen.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Nazareth Home and the Franciscan Health Care Center for their wonderful care and concern. The funeral Mass is 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Hwy. 51 in St. Francis, KY, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday at J.E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Drive in Louisville and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the Church in St. Francis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to DeSales High School or the Nazareth Home.
