Jake was born May 21, 1939, in Alvada, to Cyril A. and Mary "Betty" Reinhart. He married Rosemary Remlinger June 11, 1960, in Norwalk, and she survives in Alvada.
Also surviving are five children, Mary (Anthony) Peck and Thomas J. Reinhart, both of Alvada, Deb (Dave) Burris of Alabama, and Mike (Julia) Reinhart and Cyril (Melody) Reinhart, both of Alvada; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard (Janice) Reinhart of Alvada and Urban (Mary Ellen) Reinhart of Beavercreek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Thomas Burris; a great-granddaughter, Kaleigha Elchert; and a brother, Vernon Reinhart.
Jake retired from the National Guard in Tiffin and had worked for Airfoil Textron in Fostoria and Farmland Foods in New Riegel. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel, New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and the Carey Conservation Sportsman Association.
For many years he was Santa Claus at Tiffin Mall.
He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, Sept. 23, 2009, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 3:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at St. Peter Chapel in Alvada with the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. Visitation also will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the church, where a rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Seneca County Commission on Aging or a charity of the donor's choice.
