Emigrated to US in 1834. Married Catherine S. Hecox on 2/18/1835 in Lyons, New York.
They came to Buffalo in 1839. In 1845 in Buffalo, NY he was the co-proprietor and editor of "Der Weltberger" which became the "Daily Demokrat" and remained in this position until he retired in 1875. He served as Erie County Treasurer in 1866. and in 1871 was a founder of the German Bank of Buffalo which was to become one of the largest banks in Buffalo.
Their children were: Frank C. born 1841, and died Nov. 7, 1867 from Yellow Fever at Fort Morgan in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Lisette born 1847--she married Edward Beals Pratt and died in 1928. Frances E. born 1852, died Aug 31, 1869. Kate Isabell born 1855 and died 1910. Catherine Ellen born 1866 and died 1871. They are all buried in a family plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery Section P.
