Dennis Bonzon, 66, of Basalt, passed away on December 18, 2009 at his home of natural causes.


Dennis was born October 12, 1943 in Grand Coulee, Washington to Pierre and Wenafred Cooper Bonzon.


He attended school in Grande Coulee and joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served three years.


He worked in shipyards as a welder until he joined Local 192 in Wyoming. He was a member of Local 192 until his death. He was a welder foreman and superintendent of various companies in Wyoming, Nevada, Washington and Idaho.


He married Karen Knight on October 10, 1975 in Wyoming, where they lived until 1985. They moved to Basalt, where he retired in 1990. He then worked for the city of Basalt as the maintenance man until retiring in 2008. Dennis loved to hunt and go four-wheeling in his famous white GMC pickup. He loved all the kids who ever came to him and had a love for dogs. He will be missed so very much.


He is survived by his wife, Karen of Basalt; children, Keith K. Bonzon of Boise, Calvin E. Bonzon of Aberdeen, Tara Bonzon of St. Louis, Missouri, and LeAnne Bonzon of Spokane, Washington; step-children, Shelley J. Berggren of Basalt and Jim Pasborg Jr. of Superior, Wyoming; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Candy Bonzon; and sister, Nancy Williams.


Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Riverview Cemetery in Firth with full military rites accorded by David B. Bleak Post No. 93. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. today at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley.
