Captain Burch was the pilot of B-17G Flying
Fortress #42-97892, serving with the 324th
Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, U.S. Army
Air Forces in World War II.

Shot down by flak while on bombing mission
over Hamburg, and crashing at Schenefeld,
Germany, west of Hamburg. Eight crew aboard
were Killed In Action. Only the tail gunner
survived and was taken as a POW.
