An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, November 22, 1968:

Funeral services for P. E. (Pink) Ballard, 86, of the Mountain community were held at 10 a. m, Saturday in Scott's Funeral Home chapel. The rites were conducted by Rev. G. L. Derrick and Rev. Bennie McBride, and burial was in the Restland Gemetery.
Mr. Ballard died Thursday, Nov. 14, in the local hospital.
He was a retired farmer and had lived in Coryell County nearly 80 years.
Born in Winfield, Ala., on May 17, 1882, he came to Coryell County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ballard, when he was seven years old.
He was married to Miss Emma Huff Aug. 24, 1902, and they lived at Bee House and Pearl before moving to the Mountain community in 1939.
Mr. Ballard was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Edwin Ballard and Charlie Ballard, both of Gatesville, and Jimmy Wayne Ballard of Marlin; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Blakley of Pearl; one sister, Mrs. Ellie Barrington of Gatesville; a brother, George Ballard of Amarillo; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters—Mrs. Bessie Lacy in 1960 and Miss Dessie Ballard in 1967.
Pallbearers for Mr. Ballard's funeral were Cecil Bailard, O. Z. Ballard, Glen Barrington, Weldon Lacy, Carl D. Lacy, Don Gaston, Grayson Lee and James Blakley.
