An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, April 22, 1966:

David Franklin Collard of Gatesville died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday in the local hospital. Mr. Collard, a retired café cook, was 77.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Hoyt Smith and Rev. M. E. Fairchild officiated, and burial was in Restland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lewis Woods, C. C. Franks, Chester Brown, A. J. Blanchard, H. N. Brown Jr. and Earl Bond.
Mr. Collard, a native of Oglesby, lived in Coryell County most of his life. He was married to Sarah Eavlean Brown Aug. 6, 1915, and she died in 1954. He was married to Mrs. Mary Veal June 28, 1965.
Mr. Collard was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of Gatesville; a son, David Collard, who is with the U. S. armed forces in Viet Nam; four daughters, Mrs. J. C. Bradbury of Clute, Mrs. Robert Fisher of Gatesville, Mrs. Jimmie Love of Belton and Mrs. Ralph Franks of Devine; one stepson, Evered Veal of Dallas; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Ruth Landrum of Gatesville; one sister, Mrs. Louis Woods of Oglesbv; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Collard was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey Collard, and a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Lilley.
