Alice C.E. COFFIN DIES OF LONG ILLNESS

Services to Be Tomorrow For Retired Insurance Salesman

Clarence E. Coffin, 69 years old, 3270 Winthrop Avenue, retired insurance salesman and son of the late Charles E Coffin, former treasurer of The Star Publishing Company, died yesterday in the Lilly Clinic of City Hospital following a three month's illness.

Born here, the son of Charles E. and Elizabeth Holloway Coffin, Mr. Coffin attended Shortridge High School and Phillips' Academy in Andover, Mass. He was graduated from Yale University in 1899 and lived here until his death, except for the period from 1910 to 1916 when he lived in Hood River, Ore. He retired 10 years ago.

Mr. Coffin was a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity, a 32d-degree mason and a member of Mystic Tie Lodge, F. and A.M.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lenora Coffin of Indianapolis; two sons, Commander Clarence E Coffin, Jr, who is in the Pacific, and Tristram Coffin of Washington,, D.C.; a daughter. mrs. James D. Pierce Jr. of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Charles H. Bradley of Indianapolis and Mrs. Jean Ingram of Coronado, Cal., who is the wife of Vice-Admiral Jonas H. Ingram, a native of Jeffersonville and commanger of all United Nations forces in the South Atlantic, and two grandchildren, Lynne Coffin and Stephen Coffin of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Galloway, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Kregelo & Bailey funeral home. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery.
