Robert L. Nibbs Sr. 82, Indianapolis, passed away October 26, 2006. A native of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, he was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II. He was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church. He had a 35 year career in construction, working for various firms including Vehling Brothers, Tousley Bixier and Wilhlem Construction. He was a member of the International Laborers and Hod Carriers Union, Local #120, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed gardening, farming and sports. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Cockrell Nibbs; two sons, Robert L., Jr. (Anita L.) and Steven (Barbara) Nibbs; grandchildren, Tiara R., Robert L. III "Trey", Stephany R. Nibbs and Kristen C. Nibbs Dauss, and Steven Nibbs, Jr.; great-grandson, Steven A. Dauss III; and siblings, Martha Motlow, Abner Jr. (Ceola), Fannie L. Gipson, James 0. Nibbs and Addie M. (Robert) Cain. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 1 p.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Stuart Mortuary Chapel with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrustcd to Stuart Mortuary, Inc.
