Helen Farrington McLeland, 89, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel, followed by a reception at Greenwood Funeral Home. There will be a private burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Helen Farrington McLeland was born March 10, 1920, in Dallas to Sidney King Farrington and Evan Stanley Farrington, for whom the Fort Worth high school football stadium is named. She graduated from Paschal High School in 1937 and from TCU in 1941. That same year, Helen married Don H. McLeland, for whom the Fort Worth Tennis Center is named.
Helen served as the president of Canwick Club, Dinner Dance Club, and Mockingbird Garden Club. She was a member of University Christian Church, where Dr. Allan Lobaugh presides as pastor.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers: Terry Hogue, Barbara Grubbs, Benjamin Grubbs, Donna Crow and Chelsea Reid.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2003; sister, Carolyn Hayes; and brother, Dr. Stanley Farrington.
Survivors: Daughter, Sidney McLeland Reilly and husband, Joseph F. Reilly, of Houston; son, Dan McLeland and wife, Lenore, of Fort Worth; daughter, Peggy McLeland of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Joe, Don and Matthew Reilly, Elaine Reilly Whitley and Grady McLeland, Michelle and Kirk Coleman, and B B Moncrief; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Matthew, Liam, Kate, Luke and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.
