Surgoinsville - Mary E. Lawson Noel, 82, of Surgoinsville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009 at Indian Path Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in Sneedville and had been a resident of Surgoinsville most of her life.
Mrs. Noel was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Heiskell (Hack) Lawson.
Surviving are her husband, Wright Stickley Noel of the home; daughter, Loretta Carter and husband, Larry of Church Hill; son, Gary Lawson and wife, Romelda of Surgoinsville; step-daughter, Barbara Royal of Charleston, South Carolina; step-son, Larry Noel of Surgoinsville; grandchildren, Brenda Lawson, Amy Lawson, Kimberly Funk, Abby Foster and Dustin Carter; step-grandchildren, Jamie Royal, Kevin Noel and Dustin Royal; eight great grandchildren; brother, Fred Burton and wife , Pearl of Church Hill and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN or anytime at the residence of the daughter, Loretta Carter, 243 Chickasaw Circle, Church Hill.
A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pat Hammonds officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gary Lawson, Larry Carter, Dustin Carter, Joe McDavid, Larry Noel and Landon Noel.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
