Edna Catherine Grap Huinker, 91, of 325 Bryant St., Apt. A., died early Sunday morning, Dec.27, 2009, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her loving family, following a very brief illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Nativity Catholic Church, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Wed-nesday. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwood, Wis., at a later date. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1918, in Greenwood, Wis., daughter of Edward and Frances (Einck) Hinker. She went to St. Mary's Catholic School until the end of her eighth grade year.

She married Franklin "Kaiser" Grap, in 1945; he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1957. She later married Gregory Huinker in 1960; he preceded her in death in 1985.

As a widow, Edna worked at Schroeder Funeral Home, Marling Lumber Co., and a doctor's office to support her two young children. She eventually left Madison and moved to Ossian, Iowa, in 1960. She and Greg farmed until 1972, when they moved to town. Edna then worked at St. Francis De Sales school cafeteria for seven years. She retired when she turned 62, and later moved to Dubuque to be near her two children and their families.

She was a faithful member of St. Raphael's Cathedral, Madison, Wis., St. Francis De Sales, Ossian, Iowa, and The Church of the Nativity, Dubuque. She also attended Mass often at St. Columbkille's after moving to her Bryant Street apartment.

Edna will most be remembered for her strong faith in God, her deep love for her family, and her enjoyment in watching the Cubs and Packers. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a great cook.

Surviving are son, Gary Grap; her daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Werner, both of Dubuque; her daughter-in-law, Vickie Grap, of Neillsville, Wis.; 16 grandchildren, Conan, Mya, Martia, Kaiser, Garrett, Magdalena, Lola, Isaac, Jasmine, Michael, Kevin, Tammie, Kaila, Mark, Justin and Kirstin; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; her goddaughter, JoAnn Kaiser; a sister-in-law, Viola Tessmer; and many extended family and friends.
