Chester "Chet" Corrigan, 77, died at home with his family by his side after a short illness on Feb. 25, 2007.

He was born on July 11, 1929, at Kolbs Corners in the town of Ledgeview to the late Patrick and Lavenia (Carter) Corrigan.

Chet was married to the late Elizabeth (Betty) Matzke on July 11, 1953, for 23 years.

After her death he then married the late Charlotte Van Den Elzen on Aug. 20, 1977.

Chet was the fourth generation to farm on the original Corrigan homestead dairy farm established in 1857, which is now run by his sons and grandsons. He also was a stone cutter at Scray's Hill quarry.

Chet was a member of St Mary's of Glenmore Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and shaking dice throughout most of his life. "Dodge had a good time, too."

Chet is survived by three sons, Robert (Sandi) Corrigan, Steve (Cheryl) Corrigan, Don (Shelly) Corrigan; four daughters, Nancy (Tom) Kellner, Lois (Dan) Novak, Michelle (Dave) Spiering, and Sheila (Mark) Steinfeldt; one son-in-law, Dan Thompson; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; by one brother, Allen (Bud); several in-laws, Marjorie Dollar, Walter Epstein, Victorio Vizcay, Vic Kane and Elsa Corrigan, Mike and Pat Matzke, Dorothy Matzke, Bob Brosig, Russ and Joan Matzke, Jerry Matzke, Silver Jankowski, Donald Gazella, Donald Lipp, Mary Lou Randall; and 68 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by six stepdaughters, Rose (David) Welsing, Shelly (David) Grusznski, Jean Van Den Elzen and Don Robillard, Joan (Jerome) Zillges, Arleen (Bob) Weyland and Melissa (Brad) Albers; three stepsons, Ray Van Den Elzen, Gerald (Pam) Van Den Elzen, Robert (Carla) Van Den Elzen and 15 stepgrandchildren.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty; second wife, Charlotte, sons, Joseph and John; daughter, Amy Thompson; and one grandchild, Stacey Thompson; brothers and in-laws, John and Midge, Donald, Joseph and Howard; sisters and in-laws, Agnes and Norb Hutjens, Jane and Roy Tielens, Florence Epstein, Ellen Vizcay, Doris Kane, Merle and Dorothy Matzke, Donald Matzke, Erna Brosig, Bob and Leona Matzke, Janice Matzke, Shirley Jankowski, Eunice Gazella, Chet Dollar and 11 nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was said on March 1, 2007 at St. Mary's Glenmore, followed by a graveside burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
