Widow of Ernest H. Halterman
OBITUARY :
MELVIE RITCHIE HALTERMAN, 84, of First Avenue in Timberville, and formerly of Criders, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Halterman was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Criders, and was a daughter of the late William and Ida Alice Siever Ritchie.
She was employed at the Timberville Cannery before retiring and was a member of Damascus Church of the Brethren in Criders.
On July 4, 1946, she married Ernest H. Halterman, who preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1988.
She is survived by a daughter, Isolda Netz of Timberville; a son, Larry Halterman of Broadway; two sisters, Orpha Caplinger of Dayton and Audrey Miller of West Virginia; two brothers, Truman Ritchie of Criders and Clora Ritchie of Linville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pastor Franklin Tusing will conduct the funeral 3 p.m. Saturday at the Damascus Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the Caplinger Cemetery in Criders.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
