Peter and family came from the Canton, OH area to Buckeye Twp., Ellis Co., KS in 1878 and settled on a farm just north of Hays. They engaged in farming and remained in Ellis County the remainder of their lives. They had 12 children: Theodore G. "Dory", Mary Margaret, John, Jacob M. "Jake", Jennie S., Alice F., Emma Vendella, Charles Sherman, Louis Hayby, George William, Lucinda Catherine, and Zelma Ardella.
