BILOXI - Walter R. Barnes Sr., 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Lincoln, Calif. Mr. Barnes was a short-time resident of California and a lifelong resident of the Coast. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Magnolia Lodge No. 120, and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Barnes; a great-grandson, Aaron Rosonet; his parents, William R. and Margaret Barnes; three brothers, J.D. Barnes, Hubert Barnes and Billy Barnes; and five sisters, Olga Mae Lamey, Bessie Ladnier, Juanita Robbins, Clara Jones and Bobbie Slade. Survivors include three daughters, Patrick Bonell and Glenda Tiblier, both of St. Martin, and Peggy Fayard of Biloxi; two sons, Wallace "Chip" Barnes of Biloxi, and Walter "Chuck" Barnes Jr. of Roseville, Calif.; a sister, Thelma Astifan of Albuquerque, N.M.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A service will be at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with burial in Biloxi City Cemetery with Masonic rites.
