Ralph Clayton Bolt, 79, of Roanoke, formerly of Galax and Grayson County, passed away late Friday night, June 27, 1997, at the VA Medical Center.

He was a veteran of World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart as well as a Bronze Star for distinguished service.

He was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton. He owned Bolt's Refrigeration and Appliance Service prior to his retirement in 1980.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Magdalene Parks Bolt; a son and daughter-in-law Charles and Pat Bolt of Roanoke; grandchildren, Julie (Bolt) Martin and Robert Martin of Newport News, and Laura (Bolt) Leonard and Scott Leonard, and one great-granddaughter, Rebecca Leonard, all of Fountain, Colo.; three sisters, Clyde Williams of Galax, Ruby Ayers of Roanoke and Dove Cox of Galax, and three brothers and their wives, Kyle and Mae Bolt of Roanoke, Don and Virginia Lee Bolt of Independence, and Leon and Charlotte Bolt of Independence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley Inc.

Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 1997, with Dr. George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
