Bobby Lee Paxton of Gatesville died June 20 in a Goldthwaite nursing home. He was 74.
Memorial services were held Thursday at Gateway Baptist Church in Gatesville with Brother Royse Cockrell officiating. A private graveside service was held Wednesday at Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Paxton was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Calumet, OK. He was the son of the late John G. Sr. and Eula Halloway Paxton. In 1949, he married Caroline Chambers, and they resided in Gatesville most of their married life.
He was a former minister and former pastor of Bridge Street Baptist Church (now Gateway Baptist Church), Highland Baptist Church in Highland, and the Riverside Baptist Church in Meridian. He also owned and operated Paxton Motor Company in Gatesville for many years. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline Paxton of Gatesville; sons, Gary Paxton and Kent Paxton, both of Gatesville; daughter, Denella Morton of Gatesville; sister, Alice Brooks of Waco; brothers, Kenneth Paxton and John G. Paxton Jr., both of Houston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be given to Gateway Baptist Church.
