Mrs. Effie Peveto, 89, of Gatesville died early Tuesday in a local nursing home. She had been a Coryell County resident for 60 years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Scott's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Harold Shirley officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Peveto was born Effie Susan Millsap on Nov. 18, 1887, in Bell County. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fate Millsap. She was reared in the Copperas Cove area.
She was married to Tom Burkes. He died in 1918.
She was married to Tom Peveto in 1924 and they lived in Coryell County most of their married life.
Mr. Peveto died in 1945.
Mrs. Peveto, who had been a patient in nursing homes in Gatesville and Hamilton since 1972, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde Burkes of Rt. 1. McGregor, T. J. (Bud) Peveto Jr. of Rt. 1, Oglesby, and Jim Peveto of Arlington; a daughter, Mrs. Clinton (Leta) Lee of Jonesboro; three brothers, Connie Millsap of Harker Heights, Cross Millsap of Gatesville and Vernon Millsap of San Angelo; two sisters, Mrs. Alta Mae Lee of Turnersville and Mrs. Emma Van Lien of San Angelo; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
