Blandene Smith Pettit, 80, died Friday, April 6, 2001, in a local hospital. A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Fred Neil Smith and Annie Gouger Thompson Smith. Mrs. Pettit was a longtime member of Haywood Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Pettit,and her sister, Elizabeth Knight.
The graveside services will be held at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dorothy B. Thomas officiating. Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
