Gladys M. Aasen, 87 years old, died on Tuesday December 22, 2009 at Union Hospital in Mayville, ND.

Gladys was born on June 6, 1922 on a farm near Hatton, ND to Malla (Huus) and Elmer Braaten. Gladys was baptized as a child of Christ at St. John Lutheran Church of Hatton. She attended Garfield Grade School and Hatton High School, graduating in 1941.

She was married in Las Vegas, NV on March 22, 1942 to Ernest Aasen, son of Gilbert and Josphine Aasen. The couple lived in California, where Ernest worked for Boeing Aircraft and Gladys was a dental assistant. They eventually moved back to Mayville, ND where their four children were born. Ernie and Gladys enjoyed their Lake Melissa home plus living in Arizona.

Gladys was a member of First American Lutheran Church of Mayville. She enjoyed attending her church and spending time with the women's guild members. Gladys held on to her sense of humor and her wittiness kept those that knew her laughing.

Gladys is survived by four children, Dale (Marlis) Aasen of Scottsdale, AZ; Ruby (Arvid) Michaelis of Mayville; Michael (Sandy) Aasen of Scottsdale, AZ, Patty (Douglas) Kelleher of Washburn, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Reuben (Frances) Braaten of Mayville and Ronald (Edie) Braaten of West Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her parents, 2 brothers and her sister.

Visitation: 1 hour prior to the funeral service, at the church.

Funeral Service: 2:30 pm Sunday, December 27, 2009 at First American Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND.

Burial; Mayville Cemetery, in the spring.
