ELIZABETH SMITH, daughter of Mary Brent Hoke and Hosea Hildreth Smith, born October 11, 1859, died May 1, 1941. Dr. H.H. Smith was the first superintendent of Houston Independent School District. She was a member of the D.A.R. and U.D.C., and had an active interest in cultural affairs. At the time of her death she was a member of Christ Episcopal church.
