Seldon Lawrence, Former Kiel Resident, Dies At Fond du Lac
Seldon Lawrence, 80, former resident of Kiel, died at the home of his son, Arthur, of Fond du Lac, Tuesday after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services will be held Friday at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel and at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church. The Rev. E. L. Worthmann will officiate and burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Manitowoc January 28, 1856. On December 26, 1879, he was married to Miss Bertha Strutz of Manitowoc. The couple resided at various places in the county, and six children, two whom died since, were born to the union. His first wife died in 1893, and in 1894 he was married to Mrs. Caroline Wagner, and they came to Kiel in 1914 where they lived until 1928. They then moved to Fond du Lac. Two children were born to the second marriage. Mrs. Lawrence died October 28, 1933. Surviving are four sons, of the first marriage; William, Albert, Arthur all of Fond du Lac, and Raymond of near Manitowoc. One son Louis of near Kiel, survives from the second marriage. There are 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Three step-children, Mrs. Bertha Schwantes, and Mrs. Emma Stuever of Horicon and Albert Wagner of Kiel also survive.
