Thomas Harold Hurst, 60, Kokomo, died 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Howard Regional Health System. Born Sept. 8, 1944, he was a son of William B. and Betty Jean (Goebel) Hurst. On April 12, 2002, in Kokomo, he married Cathy Brunk Whalen Hurst and she survives.
He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1964 and retired from Department 870 of Delphi Corporation in 2003 with 24 1/2 years of service.
He was a member of Southport Masonic Lodge, UAW Local 292 and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He enjoyed golfing, was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.
Surviving with his wife, Cathy Hurst, are his parents, William and Betty Hurst, North Fort Myers, Fla.; three sons, William Hurst, Beech Grove, Christopher and wife Monique Nowak, Hendersonville, N.C., and Christian Hurst, Beech Grove; two stepdaughters, Andrea and husband Joe Davis, Tipton, and Kimberly and husband Joseph McCaslin, Westfield; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Lynda and husband Timothy McGuire, Greenwood, and Barbara Baldwin, Summerville, S.C.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with the Rev. Keith Cramer officiating. Burial will be in Greentown's Greenlawn Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Howard County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
