George W. Mowry, aged 63 years, died at his home southeast of La Place on Thursday night, December 22. He had suffered for some time with a trouble which necessitated a surgical operation, which he stood well. A short time after an indiscretion on his part-resulted in a congestive chill and his death followed in a few hours. The deceased was a native of Highland county, Ohio, where he was born on Sept 6 1829. H was for many years a resident of the locality in which he died, and was widely known. A widow and four children survive him. The children are Joseph Mowry, of Iowa, and Mrs. Ardilla Shumate, Mrs. Jannie Jolly and Ed Mowry, of Casner. The services were held at Casner chapel at 11 o'clock Sunday forenoon, Rev. B.O. Giffins officiating. The interment was in the Long Creek cemetery.
